Back to basics for GB boxers
Page last updated at 11:20AM BST, Wednesday, 26 May 2010
Thirteen GB boxers took a brief break from regular training at the EIS last week to get to grips with some boxing basics.
The boxers took part in the Boxing Tutor course - a one day course aimed at preparing them to deliver fun, non-contact boxing sessions to youngsters alongside qualified coaches in schools, their local boxing clubs and youth centres. The course involves learning how to teach the fundamental basics of the sport in a fun way, incorporating key elements such as stance and footwork with fun games for all levels of ability. The session, which was organised by GB Boxing's Performance Lifestyle Adviser Dan Salcedo and delivered by ABAE coach Q Shillingford, provided some light hearted relief for the boxers - particularly those who have a month of tough training and competition ahead of them. A team of twelve GB boxers are currently in France training for the European Championships, which take place in Moscow in June. ![]() |
