Three time ABAE Champion, Amanda Coulson has been boxing for years. When not training in Sheffield, she works full time at a Police call centre in her hometown of Hartlepool, where she also trains at Hartlepool Catholic Boxing Club.

Why did you start boxing?

I'd seen an article for the first ever female amateur contest taking place in England and I thought, 'I wouldn't mind trying that!'

What's been your best moment in boxing so far?

Taking part in the 2008 AIBA Women's World Championships in Ningbo, China.

And the worst?

in the same competition, being down against the current World Champion Mary Spencer and losing 4:13. She went on to retain her World Champions status.

What would you do if you weren't boxing?

I'd be a PE teacher or something similar.

What makes you so good at your sport?

I want to achieve! I'm dedicated and I know that what I put into the sport, I will get out of it.

What's your favourite film?

Sister Act

What would you have as your ring music?

'I get knocked down...but I get up again, you're never going to keep me down!'

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My dad Tommy, who sadly passed away in 2001. He always gave 100% to everything he put his hand to and I've inherited those genes. I want to do well in all walks of life, including in the ring, to make him proud.

Does anyone else in your family box?

I'm the lone boxer in the family, but all of my family and friends have been fully supportive from the start.

What's your biggest ambition in boxing?

To take part in the 2012 Olympics - watch this space!
